Ver. 3.7.5 - Drawing Check, Thread Catalog, rebuilt Stitch Simulator, automatic stitch-order repair (2026/8/1) - Leathercraft CAD

This is the first public release since v3.6.1, and it gathers up everything from the unreleased 3.7.0–3.7.4 builds. Three larger pieces of work lead it: Drawing Check, which finds problems in a drawing for you; the Thread Catalog and the rebuilt stitch rendering that goes with it; and automatic repair of stitch order. A long list of smaller improvements and fixes follows.

  • Drawing Check — finds lines that only look connected, slight tilts, and overlapping shapes, and fixes them with a single click
  • Thread Catalog — pick real threads from MeiSi, Liuhua, Vinimo and Tiger (Ritza 25) by product, colour number and gauge
  • Rebuilt Stitch Simulator — stitches are drawn as real thread rather than lines, right down to how a gradient thread lays out its colours
  • Automatic stitch-order repair — a stitch order disturbed by copying or mirroring is put back by following how the lines connect
  • Memory leak fixed — long sessions no longer consume memory until the machine stalls

🚀 New Features & Enhancements

Drawing Check

  • Problems are found automatically — tiny gaps between endpoints, slight tilts away from horizontal or vertical, and overlapping shapes are flagged. Worth running before sending a file to a cutting machine or laser.
  • One-click fixes — close the gap, straighten the tilt, line up a T-junction, right where the warning is.
  • Whole-drawing tidy-up — applies the same fixes across the drawing, disturbing existing shapes as little as possible.
  • Split at intersections — crossing shapes can now be split where they meet.

Thread Catalog

  • Real threads by product, colour number and gauge — MeiSi, Liuhua, Vinimo and Tiger (Ritza 25).
  • Gradient and multicolour threads — reproduced from measured cycle and band lengths, so the colours fall where they do on the real thread.
  • Thread construction as data — twist direction (S/Z), braiding and strand count are held per thread.
  • MeiSi Super Fine Waxed Linen is free to use; the other threads need the extra features enabled.

Stitch Simulator

  • Stitches drawn as real thread — at true thickness, with the twist visible as you zoom in.
  • The two-needle technique is reproduced — which side the thread starts from changes the look of the seam, and that shows.
  • Stitch holes drawn as shadows beneath the thread, instead of thread floating on bare leather.
  • The threads in use are listed at the bottom left of the work area, ready to use as a shopping list.
  • Drawing lines can be hidden temporarily, leaving just the leather and the stitching.

Stitch Order

  • Repaired automatically by following how the lines connect.
  • Branching and converging runs — several stitch runs may start from one hole, or converge on one.

Tracing Images

  • The pivot is visible and movable — the point rotation and scaling turn about is shown as a crosshair and can be dragged, snapping to intersections and to the grid.
  • New images are placed clear of the ones already loaded instead of stacking on top of them.
  • Double-click to select — double-clicking a tracing image where there is no shape selects it and switches to the tracing tool.

Elsewhere

  • Bezier — Shift constrains a control handle to its own direction; Ctrl+Shift moves the opposite handle symmetrically.
  • Leather Simulator — a nearly closed selection is closed automatically so leather can be applied to it.
  • Trimming — the trim tool stops at stitch holes as well as at intersections.
  • Editing — new right-click command tidies up connected lines of the same line type.
  • Editing — double-click chain selection is limited to one line type; hold ALT to select across layers.
  • Text — text on an arc can be laid out counter-clockwise.
  • Localization — Ukrainian and Simplified Chinese added.

🐛 Bug Fixes

Memory

  • Fixed memory never being released when redrawing shapes with leather applied, which made the app progressively slower and eventually froze the machine. Thanks to the user who reported this with measurements.

Pricking Irons, Stitch Holes & Snapping

  • Fixed an out-of-memory error appearing repeatedly, leaving the app unusable, after switching pricking iron types many times.
  • Fixed stitch holes on a tilted line sometimes not being selectable.
  • Shape intersections now take priority over the grid when snapping.

Offset

  • Fixed an arc flipping when offset further inward than its own radius.
  • Fixed lines crossing each other when offsetting connected shapes.

Shapes & Drawing

  • Fixed rounded tangent point coordinates leaving a slight overlap after trimming.
  • Fixed arcs greater than 180 degrees sometimes being drawn incorrectly.
  • Fixed Bezier curve data drifting from its endpoints, which produced false overlap warnings in Drawing Check.
  • Fixed ALT+click in Mandala mode splitting shapes other than the selected one.

Auto Pricking & Simulator

  • The status bar now shows the actual pitch rather than the target pitch for looped auto-pricking.
  • Fixed auto-pricking starting from the opposite end to the one clicked.
  • Fixed thread colours getting out of step between separate stitch runs.

Tracing & Other

  • Fixed tracing opacity and visibility carrying over from the previous project when creating or opening a project.
  • Fixed tracing visibility toggling by itself when the space key was pressed over the canvas after clicking its checkbox.
  • Fixed the file extension being appended twice in default file names.
