Ver. 4.2.0 - Dimensions as shapes, nested groups, paint-bucket leather simulator, DXF import and more (2026/10/3) - Leathercraft CAD

Release date: October 3, 2026
v4.2.0 is a feature release. Dimensions are now single shapes, groups can be nested, the leather simulator works like a paint bucket, DXF files can be imported, and you can copy and paste between the desktop app and the web version. Very large drawings with tens of thousands of lines are now far faster to work with. 19 bugs are also fixed.

✨ Highlights

  • Dimensions as shapes — re-measure them later; they follow the shapes they measure, and each can keep its own unit
  • Nested groups — group groups together and ungroup one level at a time
  • Paint-bucket leather simulator — click inside a closed area to pour leather; solid-colour fill, eraser, eyedropper and its own toolbar
  • DXF import — curves that R12 broke into polylines come back as arcs and curves
  • Copy and paste with the web version — move shapes straight between the desktop app and the web version
  • Much faster large drawings — mesh SVGs from 3D software and other drawings with tens of thousands of lines now import, check, undo, open and auto-stitch at a usable speed

🚀 New Features & Enhancements

  • [Dimensions] A dimension is now a single shape: it can be re-measured later, follows the shapes it measures when they move, can keep its own unit, and a radius dimension can be moved to another arc by dragging its arrowhead. The default dimension gap is now 2 mm.
  • [Groups] Groups can now be nested: group groups together, and ungroup one level at a time.
  • [Leather Simulator] The leather simulator now works like a paint bucket: click inside a closed area to pour leather into it. Adds solid-colour fill, eraser, eyedropper, flipping the leather image, its own toolbar, and an always-on mode (with or without lines).
  • [Leather Simulator] Each line type can now be set to act as a wall of the area or to be ignored.
  • [Edit] Lines lying on one straight line can now be merged into one (K key). Connected arcs on the same circle are merged too, and a full turn becomes a circle again.
  • [Edit] Trim / extend at intersections (Z key) now works on arcs and circles as well.
  • [Edit] When a chamfer radius does not fit, the radius is now reduced to the largest that fits.
  • [Clipboard] Copy and paste now work between the desktop app and the web version.
  • [DXF] New DXF import. Curves that R12 broke into polylines are restored as arcs and curves, and text is imported too.
  • [DXF] DXF export now writes one layer per line type (palette) and carries each line type's colour and dash pattern (layer names such as LineType_NN and Stitch_Holes; every entity also states its own colour and line type, so the receiving software can sort by layer or colour).
  • [DXF] Exported geometry is now normalised so the corner of its bounding box sits at the origin (0,0). Software that uses DXF coordinates as-is (xTool Studio, Shapr3D, Inkscape, ...) no longer places the shapes off the page.
  • [DXF] R12 export now writes arcs as ARC and curves as POLYLINE instead of many short LINEs, so files are smaller with far fewer entities.
  • [SVG / DXF] Imported text now reads its font, size, baseline and rotation the way the originating application defines them.
  • [PDF] PDF vector import now turns circles that were approximated by polylines back into circles.
  • [Text] LINE Seed JP is now bundled, and fonts with several weights are typeset correctly. Fonts not installed on the computer are drawn with the system's default font (the recorded font name is kept).
  • [Text] The vertical position of text is now based on the font's ascent, so text sits at the same height on Windows, Mac and the web version.
  • [Center Line] When the two points are connected by shapes, the path between them can now be divided into N parts by length along the path or by chord.
  • [Offset] Parts from the Parts Repository can now be offset by their outline (Shift for the bounding box).
  • [Parts Repository] Added three celluloid-sheet parts.
  • [Snap] While dragging with the transform handles, shapes now snap to the characteristic points of other shapes.
  • [Snap] Tangent snapping now considers only the single nearest circle or arc (arcs are now included).
  • [Delete Duplicates] Duplicates are now judged by distance, with the tolerance adjustable in Settings. The same curve drawn in the opposite direction is also detected as a duplicate.
  • [Delete Duplicates] Shapes with different line types (palettes) are no longer treated as duplicates even at the same position, protecting drawings that stack a cut line and a stitch line. Applies to the automatic clean-up on load, the manual command and PDF import alike.
  • [Drawing Check] Zero-size shapes (zero-length lines, zero-radius arcs, and so on) are now reported; the repair deletes them.
  • [Large Drawings] Drawings with tens of thousands of lines (such as mesh SVGs exported from 3D software) are now far faster to import, check, undo, open and auto-stitch.
  • [File] .lcc files from the web version that contain licensed parts can now be opened and saved with the author records kept intact.
  • [Tracing Image] Tracing images embedded in .lcc files from the web version can now be read.
  • [Mac] .lcc files can now be opened by double-clicking them in the Finder.
  • [Language] The language menu now uses the same names and order as the web version (the Armenian code is now hy).
  • [Display] The Position/Size box is now semi-transparent while dragging, and moves to a spot that does not cover the shapes when released.
  • [Display] "Secret Items" has been renamed "Bonus Features", and Bonus Features now introduces the web version beta.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • [Stitching] Fixed: in Uniform mode, auto-stitching could stop with only the two end holes on some curves.
  • [Stitching] Fixed: with fixed or auto pitch, stitching stopped at a hole of another row lying partway along the run, leaving the rest of the holes out.
  • [Stitching] Fixed: starting to stitch from an existing hole could leave a stitch out.
  • [Offset] Fixed: Smart Offset did not close sharp corners between two arcs, and the two trimmed ends at a sharp inner corner of a Bezier did not meet.
  • [Offset] Fixed: offsets of deeply curved Beziers drifted inward in the middle of the curve (3 mm became 2.63 mm).
  • [Drawing Check] Fixed: a point on the extension of a line was judged a crossing (red).
  • [File] Fixed: files whose tracing-image position had been corrupted (a coordinate that is not a number) could not be opened.
  • [Parts Repository] Fixed: saving a drawing with a placed part dropped the closing segments of its outline, so the outline looked broken in the web version; parts named (Filled) were not filled.
  • [SVG] Fixed: SVG import dropped closing lines, and kept duplicate curves drawn in opposite directions.
  • [Text] Fixed: editing text could make it jump to the origin, and rotations clamped at -180 degrees turned the letters over.
  • [Text] Fixed: just touching text in a font not installed on the computer changed its font to Arial.
  • [Text / Mac] Fixed: on the Mac, the vertical position of text stepped in 0.5 mm increments as the size changed.
  • [Inch] Fixed four unit errors in drawings shown in inches.
  • [Dice Cup] Fixed: with widely opened fans, the closing line was slanted, the stitch line looped, and outer holes were punched on the inner edge; the bottom circle is now placed correctly.
  • [Display] Fixed: in languages with long translations, text stayed shrunk to 10 pt, buttons and headings were truncated, and the Settings and calibration windows were distorted. Missing translations were also filled in.
  • [Mac] Fixed: the Mac application menu reverted to Japanese.
  • [Unlock] Fixed: a correct unlock code was sometimes rejected (surrounding spaces, full-width characters and letter case are now accepted, and the latest information is fetched again on failure).
  • [DXF] Fixed: files exported as DXF R14 could not be opened by strict readers such as CorelDRAW or AutoCAD-based software (the R14 mandatory structure was missing). Also fixed the missing mm unit declaration, tall ellipses, and locale-dependent decimal separators.
  • [DXF / Mac] Fixed: DXF files exported on the Mac started with a BOM and were rejected by some importers.
